Going through old hard drive & found this unfinished drawing from 2003. I remember giving up because drawing the scales was taking far too long. Also was using rotring radiograph pens that were a hassle to keep running nicely.

Opaleye, the Brilliant Eye Pokemon. Opaleye are small and skittish, terrified of anything larger than them. Thanks to the glassy scales that cover their eyes, they have amazing vision that allows them to make out threats nearly a mile away!

Little bit of a throw back to when my bff asked me to draw her DnD character. She's a pure blood Yuan-Ti and the patches of "dirt" are me trying to be subtle with scales. The snake she's supposed to be is a Bandy-Bandy Snake. You'd see more scales if she wore more revealing cloth
