chihaya remains cognizant of people's efforts even if they had "luck" on their side. it's because he knows this that he is so frustrated over his feelings of jealousy. knowing the logic wont stop him from despairing over these negative emotions he can't control

one detail i liked about chihaya's character in oblivion battery is that he didn't necessarily give up once he encountered geniuses in baseball. he kept working hard regardless but what made him break was his feeling of jealousy and his aversion to such feelings
