Used over 30 layers, adding details in various places. Also I use a lot of masking layers to achieve cutting colors and edges.

This black and white gouache study felt like a breakthrough for me, personally. It was about softening edges, blurring vs detailing... and it was the first time I got a realistic face "right".

Redraw but also kinda not? I used to always draw myself pretty edgy and “spiky” so I tried drawing myself with a lot of softer edges. But I couldn’t even do that because I told you to go fuck yourself anyway. 🙄

I decided to use red to make sure nothing overlapped the edges. I haven't colored Suisei's eyes and maybe I won't. It's oddly fitting... Happy early Halloween lol
