34 years ago today, Cyclone #Hinano cleared an eye at an unprecedented location of 27S 128W, easily the furthest southeast Pacific tropical cyclone on record. Not surprisingly, the cyclone went partially undetected as JTWC considers it ~35 kt at the first two images.

Kakuna, much like Metapod, does an excellent job representing a pupal hymenopteran. Yellow Jackets at this stage of development freaked me out as a kid so I used to dislike Kakuna, but I’ve long since gotten over any zoological phobias. Very cool, and surprisingly menacing! 8/10
