I actually love Bravely Defaults art style so goddamn much, the pencil in aesthetic, the colours, the texture.

But I honestly don't get the need to translate these into these super crisp 3D renders, it removes all of the life from the originals and feels super sterile.

Since my of was so well received, I've fixed up a lot of the mesh, and I'm working on updating her texture. I'm thinking of doing a cool effect in game where it's like she floating on water with transparency on the edges.

I start with a coloured sketch, then add tons of shadows. Then I light it up and add texture. As for backgrounds, I just photobash lol
The final stuff is a multiply and dodge gradient, some blur, and a border. I forgot the subsurface scattering though XD

Left is the remastered one, done a few days ago and the one used in the Custom Texture.
Right is the old one I made at College in 2018.

So, I would use white for edge and strong highlights and maybe use the blue to pick out brow / cheek / and some rough jaw line, will help make it less seal like and give it some fur texture.
