Layer modes (esp overlay) can mess with your pic's contrast balance, & change perceived color as a result.

(Also: I didn't lighten the lines in 2/3 to match hair closer. This can throw off perceived colors too, but many art styles use much darker lines.)

It throws off the color balance, and makes Sonic look too monochromatic. It’s “too much blue” in a sense.

Best comparison I can think is off is how more recent iterations of Superman don’t have the red “underwear”. It doesn’t ruin the look, but it’s a lot less visually striking.

a small sequence for my belly boi Lombard, as his belly grows he can enlarge his tail as a counterbalance, thats why it gets longer...

Lombard is cold blooded so he often surogates mammals as a means of staying warm in the winter. Also ge just likes the feeling.
