Usually, I design them with "epic cartoon reboot" in mind, and based on the 80's animation designs.

I found out that DreamWorks was making a traditional animated film in the 90s called The Wanderer which was about a stray bear who joined a circus with other bears. It would've starred James Gandolfini and Ellen Greene and directed by Prince of Egypt director Simon Wells.
