The skin is designed with the intent of existing in 3D space, so they use less color variation in certain places and more in others. For the purposes of a drawing, I can get away with adding detail in places where I want focus as well as changing some colors to balance things out

I love white/negative space in my work, and it’s possible to incorporate that! I would hope no one thinks these are whitewashed! But I didn’t paint either of these lovely folks brown, and incorporate white space, but you can tell they are dark!
