I used the brush, pencil, and water color in sai on default settings for this. Water color to soften, brush to push colors together and then pencil when I wanted the color I was using and not a mix because I was painting on very few layers.

Before anyone asks: yes, the giant Walrus used to creep me out as well.

At one time, I tried imagining it as Dr. Hibbert whenever it started laughing to soften the blow.
