I know its a lot of detail. Some tips, tho I cel shade so im no expert.

I think knowing where shadows and lights should have harsh cut-offs vs where they should have a gradient would help. Also: darkest part of a shadow isnt the always the furthest from the light.

also, the skin looks ashy in the first one because i am using overlay/soft light layers and gradient maps, might change it to something more vibrant when i paint over (here's without the layers)

Let me note this here bc it got me thinking
The way I apply shadow to a flat color drawing is
picking a dark greyish purple, applying it with a solid brush on an overlay layer (layer opacity adjusted as necessary)
Now the gradient, I've done two ways, which do you prefer?

In the regular comic I just give it a simple color fill, but for detailed pieces I’ll put a dark to light gradient over the color and add some shimmer!

Day 27 This one has grown on me the color contrast the dark skin on this sun/orange gradient. It's so flaming. The hypno eyes, and the dot green eyebrows be hittin' 420 cause of course. Choppa on her back ready to let it spray. BULLISH!
