So @KeithAmmann (who has unfortunately left Twitter) wrote in his first book, X-Com was a great influence on his D&D tacticals. Soooo, I am revisiting this game and having fun in its own right! Also, playing it with an eye on learning strategy 😜
@DaddyWarpig @TechParadox True, but in the case of Diablo, the game designers of 3e specifically cited it as an influence on the direction they were taking D&D.
The only SSI game to get it right was one they didn't even slap the D&D brand on.
