Comparing vulpix helps illustrate my point a lot. They have smoothed over a lot of its form, given it a larger head and eyes, and removed a lot of its animalistic nature.

This is way further exaggerated in a Pokémon like Fennekin. (No toes, big head. Face is a ball and cone)

I really like Cryogonal. It's such a weird guy and it's also canonically a predator. They have a pleasing shape and weird face energy nature. Also they're a pure Ice type, which is extremely tragic from a gameplay point of view but extremely neat too.
