All i did was basically make a heat map basically lol.... Filled everything in with dark blue and then airbrushed red in the areas i wanna highlight and add some yellow for the brightest parts then change the layer mode to overlay and put it over everything.... Has a cool effect

15. Multiply airbrush to make it darker overall!

The covers have that super detailed airbrushed look and some splashes (and even individual panels on pages) seem to have the same look in b&w. The art is by a guy named Denis Beauvais who was mostly a paperback cover painter from what I can find.
