Not a tutorial at all, just me sharing my personal thought process for dealing with clothing. Obviously, one size doesn't fit all (excuse the pun) but this technique gets me a decent result without overly relying on reference images during the initial stages of illustration.
Will need more versions, so here's a juniper with a grey base. excuse the lack of clothing. That may be why they look distressed, but I need to figure out an aesthetic for the wardrobe.
