I started hoarding Archie comics as a very little kid, I have no idea which was the first. So besides Archie & pals titles, here's the first that got me into indy comics & manga at 14, another that got me hooked, and 2 others of equal importance to me. 🖤🖤🖤🖤

1. I remember buying a Pearls Before Swine collection because my friend read/loved the strip.
2. Bleach got me hooked to manga/comics.
3. The art and humor of Urusei Yatsura influenced me a lot.
4. Petals is definitely one of the most beautiful comics I’ve ever read.

So I love storytelling, and I love comics, but I've never really had the opportunity to really delve deep into a long form story until recently.
I'm working on one right now with a fantastic artist, and I can't wait to share it with you all
Here's what it's looks like.

💕 here’s some big formative moments for me

1) first manga love, late 90s
2) intro to western comics, early 00s
3) first time i saw someone who looked like me in a comic (changed how i thought about the medium), 2006
4) first webcomic love, opened a whole new world!

I love seeing the tag and everyone talking about their formative experiences. For me there's only one comic that I can think of that changed the way I look at comics and art forever and that's Sandman: Endless Nights

My can be summed up in two syllables: Nineties. I didn't have access to a comic book shop growing up. So I had random issues of random stories. But hell if I didn't read these issues over and over and over again.
