A great work by Ilya Repin, who painted only from life. His portraits stand out as realistic and life-like, yet they are so far beyond of being photographic (just look at the brushstrokes). Art historians refer to him as the ‘Master of psychological portraits’.

This isn’t meant to be v noticeable, but when Jacobi is using his photographic memory, the reflection in his eyes is usually the thing he’s remembering!

This is minor, but the reason Jacobi doesn’t look at the menu is because he has a photographic memory—so he’s always looking at Lucy in this scene

I just wanted to give him gestures that felt a little off, even if you don’t consciously register them!
