Great hammerheads are one of my favorite sharks. I would really like to experiment with making their odd head shape work well for anthro character design.

Today's shark friend is Chow, a Rough Shark.
The Rough Sharks are a genus of 5 species; the most well known being the Prickly Dogfish.

With a stout body and highly arched back, their bodies appear compressed - giving them a very unique, unmistakable triangular profile.

Sharks are cartilage except for their jaws/teeth, which means those are the only fossils we can use to learn about them. Heliocoprion's circular jaw has confused for years, but now we think it was probably built into the bottom jaw. To rotate teeth?? We can only guess.

Day 3: Salmon Shark (Least Concern)

Salmon sharks are endothermic, which allows them to maintain a body temperature above the temperature of the water.

This was inspired by capturing footage of a salmon shark interacting with a log.
