Of course Earth could be in a galactic backwater where ‘intelligent’ life is actually pretty dumb. A Fire Upon The Deep (1993) by Vernon Vinge describes Earth as being in a galactic ‘Slow Zone’, whilst other areas of the galaxy have different physical laws and more advanced life.

Living in the colder areas, Moleotov make burrows in the snow and ice by shooting fire out of their nose. They have to be careful with their burrowing so that they don't flood themselves out.

The result of the first patreon poll, actually felt good doing this and see afew areas when I need practice on.
Brushes used, nothing fancy or texture heavy, colors + shapes + smudge to blend edges do most of the work. For smaller shapes I sometimes let the shapes randomize and scatter a bit, which you can see in the final image in the less polished darker areas.

Today I did a little study.
The overall design wasn't important. I just wanted to improve in some areas.
While I kept the thickness of the outlines constant, I broke the rule in "form-giving" places.
Also I used a more atmospheric hue for the shadows. (I made them blue lol)
Artist Tip: When shading, try using a solid grey color for your "color" layer behind the shading! This makes it a lot easier to see missed fill areas, clean up messy spots and get more crisp and clear lines overall. 😊❤️✨ Feat. @myami_myeow !
