Work in progress, this is the second layer after the initial sketch. I spend maybe 5 minutes blocking in the colours with a large brush. I also use dark ink to block in the main features. The colours will change & become deeper still. This looks like a weak tea to me right now.

I loved this commission!
Halfway thru blocking in color, the file was corrupted. Had to start it over from scratch. And so I had a chance to improve the lighting and clothing design.
Some day I might save up enough $ for a new motherboard and back up hard drive ;n;

STEP 3: Blocking

This was the most tedious step. Rotating shapes is tough and all these arms have non trivial forms. If I rush this step the rigid parts will look wobbly when moving around which would break the illusion.
