Rieko Kodama's work is vast and varied. Many of my childhood references were designed, directed or produced by her. To celebrate her legacy, I choose the Mark III adventure 'Hoshi wo Sagashite'. Though set in the same universe as Phantasy Star, the visual style is quite unique.
Ha fallecido Rieko Kodama ("Phoenix Rie"), diseñadora de "Alex Kidd," "Altered Beast", "Castle of Illusion", "Sonic the hedgehog" y productora de "Skies of Arcadia". Su papel más importante fue el diseño de los personajes de "Phantasy Star".

RIP Reiko Kodama (小玉 理恵子), one of the great game creators. She was art lead (chara design, art direction, pixel art) on many of Sega's early classics & went on to direct Phantasy Star IV and Magic Knight Rayearth and lead the production of the Skies of Arcadia series & more. https://t.co/UmfG2XUtOw
Rieko Kodama has passed away.
She was notable for creating Phantasy Star during the genesis of console JRPGs, when even Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy were young and new. Her take on JRPGs was new and ahead of the curve even while the genre was still establishing itself.
She was the main designer behind Phantasy Star, a revolutionary 1987 JRPG with no equals at the time.
She also designed on the sequel, another massive cornerstone in the genre.
