So, I would use white for edge and strong highlights and maybe use the blue to pick out brow / cheek / and some rough jaw line, will help make it less seal like and give it some fur texture.

yes go for it :D dont be afraid to shade a color with a different color, play around with it and then tackle on highlights afterwards to add to your base coloring and shading :D lol

I'd prob recommend it if you're interested in ygo but the main series seems too daunting or you're not too bothered with the card stuff. Also Ogata Megumi as Yugi/Atem is a draw in herself, she was def one of the highlights for me~
