genuinely though with higurashi the orig visuals of these extremely 2000s sprites and the filtered photo bgs are sooooo much more compelling and charming to me than making it just look like any other vn... honestly i find the background redraws way more offensive than the sprites

I wouldn't want to run into this cat at on a walk. If you ever want a surprising anime to watch I recommend The entire series is ripe with interesting visuals and the movies do a good job condensing the show for those with short attentions.
