Re-reading Trial by Fire trade and something that I do see talked about it how the interactions between Tangle and Jewel feels very real. really sold how these two are long time friends even though we've only seen the together in the book a handful of times

If IDW Sonic ever makes another miniseries/ongoing for a game character, I think it should be about Knuckles.

You could keep him on Angel Island for the most part, and have him explore the island to uncover some lost history and junk.
