These seem to be some unused or early Puyo Puyo SUN sprites? The print suggests that this would have appeared when you sent garbage to the opponent on your side, but it got cut for obscuring gameplay. In the game's FANBOOK CONNECT, on Kakifly's page there is a Yui Standpic that goes unused in the game.
I've looked and cannot find it within the game or the asset site

Surprised this hasn't really been documented. In Mario Tennis for the gbc, there is an unused character, Kevin, One of the coaches for the Academy. He has a fully functional sprite in the Japanese version of the game but in the International release, he was removed. 1/3
The unused Tora Clan Assassins.
At some point in Wolfstride, 7 assassins would come to kill Shade. Each assassin had its own gameplay and mechanics. Off course this was cut off because FEATURE CREEP.
But these guys were cool!
