My Favourite C64 Software Houses No.48

Domark

Domark released lots of games in the 80s for most 8-bit computers. While some are awful (Hard Drivin’ I’m looking at you), A.P.B and Trivial Pursuit are very good, and Split Personalities is superb - one of my favourite C64 titles.

My Favourite C64 Software Houses No.49

English Software

Initially focusing on Atari games, English branched out in the mid-80s, releasing the cool & quirky platformers Jet Boot Jack & Henry’s House for the 64. My fave game of theirs is the medieval bash ‘em up Knight Games.

TRANSBOT TUESDAY: SPY VS SPY This week he's heading back to 1986 to collect items in an embassy. An excellent Master System port of the classic 1984 C64 game this also came to many other formats, did you ever set a trap for your rival?

There's a part of me that wishes the creators had gone "Nah! Screw this! The C64 version was best!" And just put a C64 in the arcade cabinet. 😁

One of the best games on the C64, without a doubt. 👍
It took some practice to get good enough at the platform game side of it, so you still had time to assemble the punch-cards at the end. 🤓

It's a lovely package... the box art was by Vanja Utne (aka Mermaid), who also makes C64/Amiga/Amstrad art etc. This one is one of my favourite C64 pics of hers, called 'Test Flight'. Also made the lovely Grok and Grok books...

Mutants on the C64 has a couple of excellent tunes to it. 👍

Yeah, the jousting was always hard. I only ever got far with Jousting on the C64, where the joystick controls allowed me to position the lance in the right place most times. The timing was still a bugger. And it helped to have the guy strong in jousting. ..But you didn't need it.

Ah, now I've heard a little more of the podcast for this week, maybe I should have started with these Defender of the Crown screenshots..
😉

You were spot on with the Amiga version being rushed to market. The C64 version is much more complete. (And the ST one.) 😋
