Interestingly when I designed both Shion and Laplus, I wanted them to give off a contrasting vibe. Shion is smug and likes to mess around while La+ is more stern and serious in her duty (even has the same og outfit). This is reflected mostly in their facial expressions.

The Zssan that appears in is based on the Zssa from ZZ Gundam and is designed by Takeshi Takakura. They wanted to incorporate an MS that would do more than just shoot beams & missiles, so it was hastily added to the storyboard process with ideas like wires & extendable arms.
