Tracing is nuts.
Tracing and making your piece so hideous in comparison to the original is laughable.

Personally what I like with character design is either having a really unique cohesive visual style, like the first image is from Tatami Galaxy, which just goes nuts with its style; or I like it when characters have really detailed fashion for characterization, like Dorohedoro
