I've never made a reference sheet for Vaard, so I tried to grab some that showed his face angles clearly as well as armor and his typical clothes (minus the long braid, it was for a request).

I dunno too much about stuff and things but perspective shots/ foreshortning are always a good thing to implement.

Drawing characters from angles helps as well.

(At least for me)

Shading can also help emphasize that 3D look.
