In looking at his images there is a sense of the artist forcing images into life with superhuman effort. Self-Portrait with Chicken & Rooster (1924), Still Life with Cat & Onions (1928), Portrait of Patrick Edwards (1928) & Boy at Harvest Time (1923)
From 1916-18 he was painting the lives of the Russian peasants & sought to present their struggles as heroic. This would be in line with future revolutionary thought at the time. Portrait of an Artist (1917), Maria Yasnaya (1916), Self-Portrait (1916) & Childhood (1916)

Born in Solothurn, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (1886-8), before going to the Académie Julian in Paris. Street in Munich (1887/8), Self-Portraits (1889) & Giacometti at the Window (1900)

This is a self-portrait I made in the early of 2019.
It's kinda creepy seeing the 4 finger in one hand style, when applied to humans... at least when it's me drawing!
