Biggest issue here are the design discrepancies.
Cranky Kong strongly resembles his younger, classic design. DK Jr's design is very different from Modern DK. We've seen DK Jr as an adult in Super Mario Kart and Mario's Tennis, and it still very much resembles his child self.
