Huaishang's constant metaphor for Wu Yu's trauma is him drowning in the sea (i.e. the sea "swallowing" him?). In the manhua, though they don't literally depict that, a sea of red opium poppies with petals slowly turning into blood splatter/trickle is as harrowingly beautiful 🤧
