This makes his neck longer.

For whatever reason, 3D Yoshi doesn't have much of a neck at all. Strangely, even the older 2D art depicted him with a neck.

It really feels to me that in some early draft of Yoshi's Island, Wart et al were intended to be the main villains. The game revived so many Super Mario Bros. 2 elements from throwing items to specific enemies like Shy Guys. A new Yoshi game would be perfect to bring them back.

The Kyoshi warriors' metal fans are based on real Japanese war fans, though in universe, they were created by Kyoshi's renegade air nun mom bc living a criminal life weakened her innate airbending abilities, so she had to use something to supplement it
