Many species of Owl have asymmetrically positioned ears. This allows them to locate sounds more accurately because sounds reach each ear at adifferent time.

In this case the main thing that made her hard was how her face is asymmetrical. If I were to mirror her jawline on the right to the left she'd lose the feminine feel and look kind of funky.
