Probably. A brainwashed He-Man, well is a big problem. Remember that one of the worst villains that He-Man faced in the MOTU stories was the Anti-Eternia He-Man, the alternative dimension evil version of himself.

Personally i believe that the MOTU movie could start with a brief introduction of King Grayskull & the Power Sword, a hint of how he used it to defeat the ancient threat of Hordak, & how the Sword passed to the various guardians, & then boom to the modern Eternian times.
