(2/3) The Feraligatr family's Gold & Silver sprites transitioned from blue to green, but Sugimori scrapped the color progression and simply changed them to all blue (official artwork seen below).

The family's sprites were later updated in Crystal to reflect Sugimori's recolors.

In Gen 2, designers created Pokemon sprites first, then art director Ken Sugimori made their official artwork based on those sprites, often making some revisions... like scrapping the Feraligatr family's color progression.
