The studio who made Metroid Prime Pinball was contracted by Nintendo and TPC to make a DS prototype for a new Pokemon Pinball. Which turned out great, but unfortunately the full game never got made. (fan recreations below)

3D tools ( for me) are such a fantastic tool in aiding 2d work. From quick prototyping all the way through to being able to accurately reproduce assets & characters in any situation you need them.
