Metal Slug 3 (Arcade, 2000)

Another incredibly fun game in the Metal Slug hexalogy. The graphics, music, and gameplay still hold up, but the slowdown and difficulty spikes still remain. Not to mention that the final mission is a bit of a slog with how long it is. 8/10.

While it had a beautiful world and the characters were fine the story itself sucked and the RPG gameplay sucked. Still was fun to explore the world and find everything! it is on gamepass which saves this a little.

Metal Slug (Arcade, 1996)

This game is a very fun alternative to Contra. It's absolutely beautiful graphics are complemented by it's super fun gameplay and it's jamming soundtrack. It's only flaws are it's rapid frame drops and difficulty spike. 8.5/10.

Finished Trails in the Sky. Small spoiler free thread rq tldr; play trails. Its gameplay shows the game's age at times. It has small bits of old RPG jank and questionable design choices. Alongside feeling overly restrictive sometimes. Though it doesn't prevent its core gameplay

With several pixel and hand-drawn games and the new addition of 2.5D, there is only one thing left for the Wonder Boy series to try and that is with full 3D gameplay. I wouldn't mind another 2D/2.5D one, but exploring Monster World with full 3D control would be super exciting!
