Another great older mouse book by Kevin Henkes. Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. Henkes uses excellent gesture and movement to create dynamic characters in his mouse books. This is another Must Read.

Jack (He didn't have a name, his friends call him Jack of all trades and it kind of stuck) is not a human and no one knows what he is for sure. He doesn't speak much, usually interact with people through gestures and music. (He makes a violin appear out of nowhere and plays it.)
