A satire that the Prince Regent tried to suppress after news that his sprained ankle from 'dancing' at Oatlands in autumn 1811 was in fact the result of a spat with Lord Yarmouth, who reportedly booted him right up the arse for trying it on with his missus.

Laskarina Boubouli(na) (1771-1825) was a heroine of the Greek War of Independence. Born in Constantinople in prison while her mother was visiting her prisoner father, who participated in the Orlov revolt. After her second husband died in battle 1811 she took over family’s ships.

We have a gem of a for you today, John Mawe's 1813 Treatise on Diamonds. Mawe was a British mineralogist who opened a shop on The Strand in 1811 close to where the IET is now based in Savoy Place.
