Well those empty space are not exactly 'empty'. They're usually left empty for purposes, mostly create a feel of wide, vast area, sometimes tense atmosphere, or whatsoever. When aligned right it can create some pretty cool effects

Just drew this apple from memory and at no point did I have the image of this apple in my head! I've just drawn enough apples in my day, enough knowhow on rendering a red sphere, and guess-and-checking brushstrokes to make sure it still looks like an apple. Is this weird?
