I feel like a lot of their designs don't draw the eyes to the face all the time. Tamamo's skins do start to draw more to his face. But even then, look at his Evo. Detail down on the bottom of his design. (This man truly loved his wife btw)
I know there are key fundamentals to character design, they do seem to be different in the west. Naturally you want the eye to focus on the face. But like, sorry I like detailed af designs. You can't tell me that Tamamo no Mae's design from Onmyoji doesn't snap.
