People complain a lot about Historia's characterization in S3P1 due to the cut content. However, I believe Levi was the character most affected by this.

With Historia you get the same character, just less fleshed out. Manga Levi vs anime Levi is a whole different conversation.

Personally what I like with character design is either having a really unique cohesive visual style, like the first image is from Tatami Galaxy, which just goes nuts with its style; or I like it when characters have really detailed fashion for characterization, like Dorohedoro
