I just realized something. They gave baby movie Sonic the proportions of classic Sonic, and put him in a classic Sonic environment. Then they gave teen movie Sonic the proportions of modern Sonic, and put him in a more realistic environment, like the modern games.

I'm guessing that volatile slime mold was in the Guiding Lands this time since that place is a special environment, and finding and using such a slime mold ain't easy for a Brachydios. Looking forward to seeing what else Raging Brachydios learned in the New World!

Colour palettes can be influenced by the environment, yes! Each banton has a "bright" palette and an "ashen" palette, depending on temperature and surroundings. A banton that permanently stays in a cold or hot area would stay ashen or bright, respectively.
