and sometimes there'll be a foreground, middle ground, and background, all in one shot -- well, you can vary line width for those too to give it more depth and breathing room in the smaller (farther) objects. this difference in line width can be subtle or exaggerated & extreme

The pencils & inks are really, really well done in this scene 😳.
Love the use of pitch black, from the background, silhouettes, to the shadows on Mark. Sometimes half his face or his eyes are subsumed. It's a dark scene narratively, in which Mark is very conflicted, so it works.
