And right after Xam'd I watched the other Nausicaa clone (harsh), Elfie from Nippon Animation, they even hired Shimamoto to voice Elfie and Kotabe for CharDesign, so they kinda made their own little Ghibli movie, with a lot more interesting underwater setting than the original->
