@gunmoony I use references all the time and more than one besides, one part for the legs, another for the hands, then the body, old photos for the backgrounds, I don't see anything wrong with using them as long as they are not exactly the same (the happy tree friends are mine)

Finally back to big painting projects for the first time since February (🇺🇦❤️). This is a 7"×8" watercolor study for a larger commissioned piece featuring a pig-tailed macaque (Macaca nemestrina). A short 🧵 about sci-art and references:

And yes, I also mean use references of other skins as well. It's how I made my skin. I used a reference of a similar skin to my idea and just started there. It turned out pretty good.
