Syd Mead might singlehandedly be responsible for my obsession w/ neofuturistic art & cyberpunk. Besides what he’s typically known for (Bladerunner, Aliens, Tron, etc), he was also a consultant & designer for many other futuristic technothrillers, like my fave—STRANGE DAYS. RIP.

RIP Syd Mead. Was literally just flipping thru one of his books today that I havent picked up in months and then a friend told me he just died. I don’t know what that means but I do know I’ll always go to his work for inspiration. His visions shaped so much of sci-fi and futurism

Syd Mead passed away today at the age of 86, a concept artist who worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Tron, Blade Runner, Aliens, and many more.
IIRC he never worked on Mass Effect, but the ME games are clearly influenced by his work.

Just the other day, I was tweeting about how he was one of the best things about Blade Runner, and now he's gone.

Syd Mead was a dude who drew a lot of the future we saw in movies, but he was also just a grown up kid who drew a lot of cool cars.

Sad to hear that the peerless, legendary Syd Mead has passed away.
