"A whisper in my ear
Did I hear
My dear
And for a moment, you were here
O, but there was no fear
Just your memory, and a tear"

Decoration from Joseph Hergesheimer’s “Java Head” (Knopf, 1946). WAD often cited French painter-designer Jean-Baptiste Pillement (1728–1808) as his inspiration for these. If you do not yet know Pillement’s work, go find it!

Tomorrow is Gaudete or ‘Rejoice’ Sunday when at our 10am Parish Eucharist we light our rose candle looking at our own response to John the Baptist’s call to think about what we do with our lives. Then at 4pm our beautiful Christingle Service & Nativity play. Remember your masks!
