To create the effect, I used a simple diffuse shader with a white color to get the lighting information. The only texture I need to plug to it is the normal map. A Shader to RGB node is used to convert it to color data.

This is me experimenting with a monochromatic palette and cast light/diffused light values and contrasts.

finished his diffuse texture completely, i think. now i'd like to do simple specular and normal maps for his face
@pkr_sadx Due to how the game calculates specular the same way that it does for diffuse and how bright the specular light can be at times, this can end up causing the stage and objects to take on a very glossy appearance like these two examples from Sky Deck.
@Scoriller @EfflamMercier if i'm understanding it correctly it means the specular light becomes offset from the center of diffuse light as the viewing angle approaches a perpendicular angle to the light source (on a round surface)
probably not the best example but i tried to demonstrate it quickly
@rebbford @PlayWarframe Thanks Rebb! While I'm still peeved at the quality of the diffuse texture itself, and believe it could be better, the speculars are fixed, which was the more jarring part to me.
