Buu being “squished” by the spirit bomb and then reincarnated is a direct play on the process the immortal monkey king went through in order to be docile enough to learn the principals of Buddhism via being “squished” and trapped by Buddha’s palm

Buu invading the Kaio realm is a direct reference to the monkey king invading heaven which like I stated before their goal is to develop other beings in JTTW’s heaven. The Monkey King was a pure force of animalistic destruction exactly like kid buu.
